Hidden Harmonies, Meaning, and Power in Women Composers’ Works is an international Joint Online Course in gender-sensitive music theory, analysis, and canon critique, combining project-based learning with listening, score analysis, and source work, and culminating in an open-access online exposition on Research Catalogue.

Timeline:

March 2024 - 6 March 2024 | IN.TUNE Kick-off Meeting, A virtual kick-off meeting. The aim of the meeting was to bring students and employees closer together and to start building the IN.TUNE community

October 2024 - Database of Music Examples by 19th-Century Women Composers as a pilot project was developed.

May 2025 – The project Theory of Harmony Based on Examples by 19th-Century Women Composers was selected within Work Package 3 of the IN.TUNE University Alliance.

December 2025 - IN.TUNE Open Lunch & Exchange – 1 December, 12:00–14:30, Fanny Hensel Hall, Information and networking event on the “New Educational Formats” within Work Package 3.

May 2026 – The new educational format was presented at the IN.TUNE Summit in Vienna. The Joint Online Course was renamed Hidden Harmonies, Meaning, and Power in Women Composers’ Works.
